Is Nine Acres Quilt Batting made in the USA?

Yes. Our batting is made using U.S.-sourced high quality fibers and is proudly produced in the United States.

Do your battings contain scrim, resins, glues, or binders?

No. All Nine Acres Quilt Batting is made without scrim, resins, or binders. This allows needles to glide smoothly and helps quilts remain soft and breathable with a beautiful drape.

What is the difference between your 100% Cotton and 80/20 quilt batting?

Our 100% Cotton batting is made entirely from U.S. long-staple cotton and offers a fully natural feel with beautiful drape and softness.

Our 80/20 batting blends 80% cotton with 20% fine-denier polyester, adding durability and slightly reduced shrinkage while maintaining a soft, cotton feel.

The best choice depends on how the quilt will be used and washed.

How much shrinkage should I expect?

• 100% Cotton Batting: Approximately 3% shrinkage with cool washing and drying.
• 80/20 Batting: Approximately 1%–3% shrinkage with cool washing and drying.

For best results, wash and dry finished quilts on low heat and remove from the dryer just before fully dry.

How far apart can I quilt my stitches?

Nine Acres Quilt Batting is made with long, durable fibers that allows quilting stitches up to 8 inches apart. It also performs beautifully with denser quilting, remaining soft and flexible even with tight stitch patterns.

Is Nine Acres Quilt Batting suitable for hand quilting?

Yes. Our battings are designed for both hand and machine quilting. Because they are free from scrim and binders, the needle glides smoothly through the batting.

Does the batting beard or shed fibers?

When used and cared for properly, Nine Acres Quilt Batting resists bearding. The use of long-staple fibers and careful processing helps minimize fiber migration.

If using dark or vivid fabrics, we recommend using an anti-static spray to avoid static issues.

Can I prewash the batting?

We do not recommend prewashing the batting. Your finished quilt may be machine washed and dried. Use cool settings for best results.

Can I use Nine Acres Cotton Quilt Batting in microwavable projects?

While our cotton batting is made from 100% cotton, we do not recommend it for microwavable projects. Cotton can smolder or burn in the microwave without proper moisture and close monitoring.

No. We do not have minimum wholesale order requirements for independent quilt businesses. You are welcome to order exactly what your business needs.
